And if you ask me about love, I’ll tell you about my girls.
The ones who have seen me bare and still chose me.
The ones who have seen me weep and helped me dry my tears.
The ones who have held space for every version of me. The confident, the confused, the broken, the becoming.
The ones who know my stories, even the ones I don’t tell anymore.
The ones who have watched me make mistakes, start over, fall apart, and somehow find my way back to myself.
The ones who don’t need me to be perfect to love me.
The ones who celebrate my wins without making them about themselves.
The ones who sit with me in my losses without trying to rush me through them.
The ones I can call at 2 a.m. and somehow still feel like I’m home.
The older I get, the more I understand that love isn’t only found in romance. Sometimes it looks like friendship. Like loyalty. Like being known deeply and still being chosen.
So, if you ask me about love and what it has taught me, I’ll tell you about my girls. Because some of the greatest love stories of my life have never been romantic at all.
